Music Support is delighted to announce a partnership with Samurai Events, recognising a shared commitment to improving mental health and wellbeing across the live events industry.

The partnership builds on an existing relationship, following a significant donation from the London-based crew company earlier this year.

With more than 30 years’ experience in live production, Samurai Events founder Jeff Singh understands first-hand the pressures facing those working behind the scenes. His own experiences of mental health challenges and addiction have strengthened his determination to make wellbeing a more integral part of the industry.

Samurai Events is already putting this commitment into practice, encouraging clients to contribute to Music Support when booking crew and donating a percentage of its profits from every job. The company also signposts crew towards Music Support’s confidential counselling and addiction services.

Jeff has also completed Mental Health First Aid training with Music Support, an experience he hopes will encourage more businesses to invest in training for their Heads of Department and key crew members, helping them recognise when someone might be struggling and feel better equipped to offer support.

Mental health is still hugely misunderstood and often overlooked. You can recognise a broken arm, but you can’t see a broken head, and we need to get much better at recognising when someone is struggling.

“I found the Mental Health First Aid training incredibly beneficial and would love to see more companies investing in it for their key crew. For me, this partnership is about turning good intentions into practical support and making it easier for people to access help before they reach crisis point. The more companies that get involved and support our partnership, the more we can achieve together.”
