A space to talk, be heard and make sense of things

Sometimes, having someone who will listen without judgement can make all the difference. Sometimes, just getting things off your chest helps. Our counselling services provide a safe, confidential space to explore what’s happening in your life, understand what you’re feeling and begin to find ways forward.

We’re here for anyone working in the UK music industry, in any role. Whether you work on stage, behind the scenes, on the road, in the studio, the office, on a festival site or in the boardroom, you’re part of the industry and part of our community.

We offer different types of counselling and therapeutic support, depending on your needs which we’ll discuss with you. All our counselling sessions are free of charge so you don’t need to worry about the financial burden on top of everything else.

Our Counselling Services

These 30-minute sessions are a weekly check-in chat with one of our in-house counsellors, typically offered over 6–12 weeks. They can provide a regular space to talk things through, work through a particular challenge and explore coping strategies.

These 30-minute sessions run weekly across six weeks. During these discussions, one of our in-house counsellors will provide goal-focussed support to address concerns you have.

Our network of volunteer counsellors allows us to provide support to more people who need it. We work with trainee and newly qualified BACP/UKCP therapists across the UK, each with music industry experience. As part of their training, therapists need to complete a set number of counselling hours. By offering these opportunities, we can support more people now while helping the next generation of therapists gain the experience they need to qualify – increasing the availability of specialist support for the music industry in the future.

We offer 12–18 sessions, each lasting 50 minutes.

All volunteer counsellors are BACP or UKCP registered, interviewed by Music Support and recruited via BACP accredited training institutions or, if already qualified, via a referring qualified therapist.

Our team of psychotherapists all have music industry and lived experience, so you’re talking to somebody who understands. We offer up to 12 sessions of 50 minutes with our in-house team.

Our Friends & Family Counselling Service is for family members, partners, friends and colleagues who are affected by someone’s substance use, addiction or mental health challenges. That person must work in the UK music industry, you don’t need to work in the music industry yourself.

We typically offer up to 12 sessions, each lasting 50 minutes with a volunteer or in-house counsellor

In some cases we may refer you to external counsellors who specialise in complex issues.

We typically offer up to 12 sessions, each lasting 50 minutes.

We don’t expect you to know what type of help you need – that’s what we’re here for. We’ll have a chat about your circumstances and together decide the best way forward.
