Modern technology is enabling much easier communication across the internet and new ways of helping and providing support. Nothing is a replacement for contact with another human being but these options are good for those who are shy or unsure.
An online meeting is a meeting that follows the 12 Step format (Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous etc …) using technology to connect many people together over audio or video, from all over the world. They are a great way of having a look or listen without participating or even being seen, on some there are options chat via text if you like which is always a good way to start.

This is a wonderfully supportive website that offers very regular 12 AA and NA meetings many times during the day. There is the option to turn your webcam on if you so desire, but the default setting is off. You will have to register in order to access the site but please don’t let that put you off, you don’t have to use your real name. It’s so worth it and it could just save your life.
Sober Grid is an free app for Android and IOS that can connect you with people in 12 step recovery near you. Its good for emergencies, there is also a community vibe to it.
